The traditional Slovenian breakfast consists of bread, butter, honey, milk and apples. Breakfast ingredients are based on local organic production. The product is designed as a set of experiences of learning about the process of producing ingredients and related cultural heritage.
The beekeeper will show us how to care for bees and the importance of bees for life. He will introduce us to the autochthonous Carniolan Honey bee, its characteristics, the work and clothing of beekeepers, and the challenges they face. We will get to know different bee products and different types of honey, and try them at the end.
This will be followed by a traditional Slovenian breakfast, which will include all the key ingredients of known origin. It will take place in one of the traditional Slovenian restaurants or, in fine weather conditions, in the embrace of nature in the form of a picnic.
After breakfast, we will visit the local fruit processing plant. Here the grower will take us around the farm, introduce us to the work of a fruit grower and related activities. We will get to know the local varieties of apples, the history of fruit growing and conclude the tour with tasting of the products.
Then the trip will then lead us to Radovljica, a medieval town on the Sava river, which has also been home to the Museum of Apiculture for more than 60 years. We will walk through the medieval core and see the museum, which preserves the invaluable legacy of Slovenian Apiculture. To conclude our trip, we will make a candle from real beeswax.
An educational, fun and also delicious trip! Seen a lot, heard even more interesting things. My children were really excited about the Slovenian breakfast 🙂
